Dwight Hager Williams Jr., 77, of Fertile, MN, died on October 14, 2014, at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. Dwight Jr. was born on April 2, 1937, in Spearfish, SD to Dwight Williams Sr and Rhoda (Vaughn) Williams. They moved to Washington DC, where Hager lived until his mother died. Hager returned to Spearfish to live with his aunt and uncle. He entered South Dakota State University at Brookings, SD. He graduated with a teaching degree and then enlisted into the United States Army in 1957 and was honorably discharged in 1962.
After his discharge, Hager remained in Guam where he taught in a military school. He return to the states and was employed with the Fertile-Beltrami Public School District in 1968. Over the years, Hager taught classes, and later, became the Student Counselor. He retired in 1998. In the early 2000's, Hager entered the Riverview Care Center in Crookston, MN. He was transferred to the Thief River Falls Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN in 2012.
Throughout Hager's life, he collected and traded guns, gold, silver and coins. He was proud of his years of teaching, especially his counseling years. He enjoyed visits with friends in the Fertile community.
Hager is survived by one nieces, Joan Chevez, and 2 grand nieces; and several friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Curtis.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014, at 7 PM at the Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile, MN.
Burial will be at a later date.
