Dwight Allen Bakke, 56, of Mahnomen, MN, died on Friday, January 15, 2010, at the MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. He was born on July 22, 1953, to Orton and Hallis (Nansen) Bakke, in Fargo, ND. Dwight graduated from the Moorhead School District in 1971. Following his schooling, he worked as a roofer and served with the National Guard.
In 1976, Dwight married Loretta Martin in Fargo; they were blessed with a son, Nathan. He joined the Air Force in 1980, where he did radio and radar repair. Over the 25 years of service, Dwight lived in Guam, South Korea, Germany, Bosnia, Rapid City, SD and Omaha, NE. In 1986, Dwight married Char Weeks; they were blessed with a daughter, Syndyl. Dwight retired from the Air Force in 2000, and settle in Mahnomen, MN. During retirement, he worked at the Shooting Star Casino and managed an apartment.
Dwight enjoyed bowling, watching the Vikings, working on old radios, carpentry and gambling. He also loved to be outdoors fishing and hunting. He had a wonderful ability to remember names and develop relationships with just about anyone. It has been said, "if you need it, and Dwight had it, it would be yours."

Dwight is survived by one son, Nathan (Frances), Kennewick, WA; one daughter, Syndyl Bakke, Powell, WY; father, Orton, Fertile; one brother, Gary, Fargo, ND; and one sister, Cheryl (Gus) Swenson, Ulen, MN. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hallis.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at 11 am in the Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile, MN.
Visitation will be one hour before the services in the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Lima Cemetery, rural Winger, MN.
