DuWayne "Dewey" E. Lee, 67, of Ada, MN, died Sunday, September 30, 2018, after a short illness, at the Veterans Affair Health Care System, Fargo, ND.

Dewey was born on June 16, 1951, in Ada, the son of Donald and Phyllis (Palm) Lee. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church and attended his early school years in Ada. His Mom passed away when Dewey was around 11 years old and he lived with grandparents and attended school in Halstad, MN, before graduating from Climax High School, MN, with the class of 1969.

Dewey attended tech school in Moorhead before joining the United States Air Force where he served until his honorable discharge in June of 1973. He returned home to Shelly and was self-employed in carpentry. He was a lifelong fan of baseball and softball, founding the first softball team in Shelly in 1973. He also was an early pioneer in establishing the Shelly Little League baseball program where he coached for many years. Dewey was involved in numerous organizations in Shelly; serving as Fire Chief, he also held officer positions for Shelly Marsh River Lutheran Church and the Shelly Softball Team.

Dewey was united in marriage to Stephanie Baggerud in 1979, in Shelly. They lived in Warroad for many years before returning to Ada in 2013.

Dewey was a talented carpenter, having worked for Marvin Windows for nearly 20 years. He also designed and built wood furniture. He also worked as a medical courier for a few years and was an active member of the Sno-Kings Snowmobile Club, grooming many miles of trails all around the Lake of The Woods area.

Dewey enjoyed many years of fishing and the special times with his family whether it involved the outdoors or a weekend softball tournament. His health began to decline in the last few months and he passed away on Sunday with family by his side.

Dewey is survived by his wife, Stephanie, children; Chris (fiancé- Sara), of Roseau, MN, Alex (Alexandra), Roosevelt, MN, Betsy (Bob) Krzoska, Bemidji, MN, 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Easton, Lola, Hudson and Cora and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his Mother- Phyllis in 1962, his Father- Donald in 2012, his Step Mother- Sylvia, his sister, Judy Franz and brother in law, Al Franz, and his in-laws, Myron and Maureen Baggerud.

Visitation: 5:00PM to 7:00PM Friday, October 5, 2018, at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN.
