Dustin "Dusty" Rock, age 22, of Mahnomen, MN, died unexpectedly on Friday, December 20, 2024, at his home.

Dustin Shawn Rock, lovingly known by his family as David Shawn Rock, Jr. was born September 22, 2002, in Fargo, ND, the son of Michelle Carter and David Rock Sr. He grew up in the Mahnomen Waubun area where he attended school.  During high school, Dusty excelled at sports participating in basketball, football and wrestling.  Following his schooling, Dusty joined the National Guard.  After his honorable discharge, he returned to the White Earth Reservation and worked part time at the Shooting Star Casino.

Dusty enjoyed spending time with his friends, listening to loud music, and playing X-Box.  He also liked ice fishing, ricing, bowling, dancing at pow wows and that boy could eat, he loved to eat!  He was the goofy kid with the great sense of humor, always making you laugh.  Dusty was pretty easy going but very protective when it came to his family, especially his grandma Jacky.  They shared a special bond and he even helped her to decorate her home with lights and garland as Christmas time was his favorite season.  Although gone from this life too soon, he will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Dusty is survived by his mom, Michelle (Carter) Rock; father, David (Rachelle "Rooney") Rock Sr.; grandmas Jacky Larsen and Beverly Gallup; five sisters: Arien Monroe, Laurena Jackson, Brittany Rock, Devin Rock and November Carter; three brothers: Tyler Rock, Jason Carter and Arden Carter; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents and grandpas: David Sam, Glenn Carter and Kim Larsen.

Traditional Services will be held at the White Earth Community Center on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.  All night Wake Services will begin Thursday, December 26, 2024, at 5:00 pm with a ceremony at 7:00 pm and continue until the time of the Funeral on Friday.
