Duane Pazdernik, 83, of Moorhead, MN, formerly Waubun, MN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2023, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley, at River Pointe Assisted Living and Memory Care Center in Moorhead.

Duane Albert Pazdernik was born on May 8, 1940, at Mahnomen, MN.  He was the third child born to Louis and Agnes (Paggen) Pazdernik.  He grew up on a farm near Waubun, MN.  He attended school and graduated from Waubun High School in 1958.  Duane helped on the family farm until 1963 when he joined the Air Force.  He had an honorable discharge in 1969.  After many years of dating, Duane married the love of his life, Lois Haider on March 3, 1973, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beaulieu, MN.  They welcomed their daughter Cindy, who was born that same year. Duane continued his passion for farming until his health forced him to retire in 2020.

Duane was a very social person who enjoyed visiting with neighbors, playing cards and the company of his barn kitties.  He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his brothers.  He was known to enjoy a beer while watching The Vikings or The Twins at the local bar.  Duane was a member of St. Ann's Parish, the American Legion Post 31, Knights of Columbus, and WAMO.  His greatest joy was being "Papa" to his two grandsons, Justin and Jaycob and spending time with his family.

Duane will always be remembered for his big heart, as he cared deeply for those people closest to him and would do anything for anyone.  He will also be remembered for his laughter, happy demeanor and someone who you could have a beer and shoot the breeze with.

Duane is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Jesse) Pierce and their two children, Justin and Jaycob, of Moorhead, MN; brothers: Robert (Pearlie) Pazdernik of Hillman, MN, LeRoy (Mary) Pazdernik of Red Lake Falls, MN, Kenneth (Cheryl) Pazdernik of Ada, MN, John (Mary) Pazdernik of Waubun, MN, and Dale (Shel) Pazdernik also of Waubun, MN; along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  Duane is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Pazdernik; his parents, Louis and Agnes Pazdernik; brother, Arnold; sisters-in-law, Shirley Ackerman and Marci Haider, and brother-in-law, Ken Ackerman.

Visitation will be held at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday, Dec 1, 2023, with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00pm on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Waubun.  Burial and Military Honors will be at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, following the funeral.
