Watch Duane's Memorial Service

Duane Gray, age 75, of Twin Valley, MN, died unexpectedly, on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, in an automobile accident.

Duane Gray was born on October 21, 1944 to John and Dorothy (Nafziger) Gray in Ada, MN. As a young boy, he attended and later graduated from Twin Valley High School. As a young man, he helped his parents on their family farm west of Twin Valley. He moved to Staples, MN, to pursue vocational schooling. While in Staples, Duane missed being home on the farm so he decided to head back to continue his career in farming. Duane stayed with his parents and his brother on the farm until he moved into the city of Twin Valley some years ago. He became a driver for the casino, transporting celebrities to their events. Duane also drove for social services for some time.

Duane met Mary Ann Dentz in 2002. They became dear friends with a strong and loving relationship. They would often be found together sharing a meaningful conversation or enjoying each other's company. Duane had a kind heart and was very generous. He was always the first to step up to help others in need with small gestures of kindness. He would recycle items for his family, friends, and himself just to earn money to give to charity. He also enjoyed gathering with his group of friends known as "the crew". He especially looked forward to celebrating birthdays and special events with his family. Duane always had a smile on his face when playing dice, going to the casino on Senior night, going out to eat, attending Top Hat Theatre events, and concerts. In his quiet time, Duane liked reading, watching Hogan's Heroes, tinkering in the garage, and of course spending time with Mary Ann. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Duane is survived by his dear friend, Mary Ann Dentz, Mahnomen, MN; his brother, Don Gray, Fargo, ND, his two nieces, Kathy (Jon) Holman and Kari (Timothy) Wegenast, both in West Fargo, ND; his nephew, Bradley (Sheila) Gray, Mandan, ND; his great nieces: Stephany Wegenast and Nicole (John) Wymore; and his great-great nephews: Kobie Irwin, John Wymore, and one nephew on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy; and his brothers: John "Jack" and David.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley.
