Duane K. Dauner 86, of Andover/Lino Lakes, MN passed away Friday, September 8, 2023 from dementia while living at White Pines Advanced Memory Care in Blaine, MN.

Duane Kermit Dauner was born April 27, 1937 to Robert and Esther (Adsero) Dauner in McDonaldsville Township (Ada) MN and was Baptized in the Lutheran Church on June 13, 1937. He grew up in the Twin Valley area where he worked on the family farm and always claimed to be an animal whisperer. He was a farmer's son with a high work ethic that he carried throughout his life. He liked to be in charge, was always right, and "the boss." Duane enlisted in the United States Army serving from 1959 to 1962 where he was a medic and spent most of his time in Germany. Specialist 4 Duane Dauner then returned to the St Paul area where he spent his career working at the Ford Plant for 31 years. He retired as a Foreman in the Paint Dept.

Duane was united in marriage to Carolyn (Zupanich) on Oct 10, 1964 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Ely, MN and together they raised three children while living in Roseville MN.

Over the years Duane had a lot of interests; he liked watching sports, going to Twins games, Vikings games and was an avid outdoorsman. He shot trap, enjoyed hunting big game in Ada, Montana and Alaska along with fishing the lakes of MN and Canada. He was also a "jack of all trades" and enjoyed tinkering on vehicles, building cabins in Montana and loading his own ammunition. Duane loved to volunteer his time. He helped with coaching his kids' sports, teaching gun safety, and Junior Achievement.

Duane enjoyed his retirement years in Arizona where he was a resident of Casa Grande for almost 20 years. He spent a lot of time with his girlfriend Mary Jo Carlisle traveling, spending time with their dogs and volunteering. He volunteered with the Arizona City Moose Lodge, earning his gold coat, Citizens on Patrol, and Boys and Girls Club with the Arizona Fire Dept. Duane spent his last couple of months lovingly cared for by staff at White Pines where he was affectionately referred to as "the General."

Duane is survived by his ex-wife, Carol Dauner; and three children, Scot (Christy), Cathleen (Michael) Sharon, and Michael (Kim); grandchildren, Calvin and Marissa Dauner, Sophia (Brandon) Kiehm, Jack and Henry Sharon, Adrianna, Keenan, and Mackenzie Winge. He was preceded in death by his parents; Robert and Esther, and siblings, Dorothy (Gerald) Olson, Donald (Verona) and Eugene (Carol).

A private funeral service for family and all extended family will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ada, MN on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
