Douglas Peterson, age 69 of Waubun, MN, died Thursday, October 29, 2020, at his home.

Douglas James Peterson, the oldest son of Norris and Marcella (Kemper) Peterson was born in Detroit Lakes, MN, on January 18, 1951.  His youth was spent in the Waubun area and he attended and graduated from Waubun High School.  Following graduation, Doug furthered his education at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls, MN.  He moved to Fargo, ND, and worked for a few years at Acme Welding in Fargo before returning and working at Waubun Cattle Company.  Doug then began working at Snappy's in Detroit Lakes.  He was united in marriage to Renae Slette and they made their home in Waubun.  The couple later divorced but Doug continued to make his home in Waubun. After 20+ years, Doug switched jobs and was employed with his brother, Richard, at Waubun Drywall until his declining health required him to retire.

Doug had a good sense of humor, enjoyed visiting with people and was known to poke into conversations to get a friendly argument going just because!  Some of his favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, and woodworking.  In later years, Doug spent his time reading and doing crossword puzzles, word finds and was an avid Nascar Fan.  Doug was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Waubun.

Doug is survived by one sister, Kathy (Myron) Larson of Waubun; three brothers: Richard, Don, and William "Salty" Peterson all of Waubun; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, June Peterson.

A Private Family Service will be held.
