Douglas Munson, age 79, of Gary, MN, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the Benedictine Care Community in Ada, MN.

Doug was born February 11, 1943, to Andrew and Mildred (Gustafson) Munson in Maple Bay, MN, the third of six boys. Doug attended school at Gary and when he was a senior, he met the love of his life, Carole (Susie) Vanderlinden. The couple was united in marriage on January 3, 1963. Doug wore many hats through the years; he was a trucker, farmer, and a milkman. Together, Doug and Sue raised six wonderful children. Doug loved to spend time with family and friends. Often, he was known as a jokester as he loved making everyone laugh and smile. Doug had a song ready for every occasion. (Not a good one, but he always thought so.) He listened to Grand Ole Opry and thought everyone should share in that great music. Doug and Sue were active members of Church of Christ in Crookston, where they made many friends who supported them both emotionally and spiritually. Dad, you are dearly loved, and we are going to miss you terribly. We are comforted knowing we will see you again. From now until then, you will live in our hearts.

Doug was survived by his wife, Carole "Sue" of Gary; three sons: Cory of Lancaster, TX, Jody (Melinda) of Moorhead, MN, and Andy (Brianna) of Crookston, MN; three daughters: Resa Munson of Mahnomen, MN, Lana (Mark) Olson of Grand Rapids, MN, and Sara (Ev) Manning of Moorhead; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Amber (Cole) Mertz and their children Gabe, Luke and Beth; Cody (Jessica) and their child, JJ; Amanda (Justin) Bolton and their children Madi and Braxton; Adam (Ashley) Anderson and their child, Easton; Ashley, Grace, Destiny, Mark and Ellie; brothers, Terry (Judy) and Trafton (Randi); and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by an infant son, Troy Andrew; parents, Andrew and Mildred; brothers, Wayne, Dennis and Warren.

A memorial service will be at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley. A time of gathering will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at the Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30 pm. Inurnment will take place in the spring.
