Dorothy Venn, 98, Halstad, MN, died Sunday at the Halstad Living Center.
Dorothy Marie Olson was born with her twin sister, Huldah, on November 4, 1915 at Perley, MN. Her parents were Olaus (O.C.) and Dorthea (Schow) Olson. She was baptized and later confirmed her faith at Kirkebo Lutheran Church in Perley. Dorothy attended rural school near Perley and later graduated from Hendrum High School.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Chester Venn on October 10, 1936, at Perley, where they made their home and raised two children. Dorothy was active in church with the Ladies Aid and singing in choir. She enjoyed her flowers and was a member of the Garden Club. She enjoyed special gatherings with her family and playing cards and board games. She was known to be very helpful to many neighbors and residents of Perley when they were in need. Dorothy was also a member of the Halstad Living Center Auxiliary and volunteered many hours at the nursing home. She and Chester entered the nursing home in 1999 and in 2000, Chester passed away.
Dorothy is survived by her son: Milan (Mavis) Venn, Eden, UT, daughter: Delores "Dee" (Jack) Clark, Missoula, MT, 3 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law: Pastor Barb Olson, Fargo, ND. She was preceded by her husband: Chester, her parents, her twin sister: Huldah Tungesvik, and her brother: Otis Olson.
Funeral: 2:00PM Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley, MN.
Visitation: One hour before the funeral at the church.
Burial: Kirkebo Lutheran Cemetery, rural Perley, MN.
