Dorothy V. Hanson, 90, Ada, MN, died Friday, November 16, 2018, under hospice care at Benedictine Care Community, Ada, MN.

Dorothy Viola (Hedrich) Hanson was born on June 18, 1928, on the home farm in Spring Creek Township, Norman County near Gary, MN. Her parents were Charley and Emma (Zahn) Hedrich. She was baptized at home on November 29, 1931, by William A. Foege, the Evangelical Lutheran pastor from Lockhart, MN. Dorothy was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Ada, where she was a lifelong member.

Dorothy attended country school near her farm home in rural Gary. She worked as a waitress in Erskine and Ada before her marriage to Arnold Hanson of rural Gary, on November 28, 1947. They were married at St. John's Lutheran parsonage, rural Ada.   They made their home in Ada where Dorothy worked for over fifty years, for three generations of the Gunnerson family at the Ada Produce Company.

Dorothy studied and earned the GED, General Education Diploma through the Ada School System. She enjoyed attending the grandchildren's activities, church activities, gardening, baking, raising beautiful roses in her flower gardens and was a member of the Ada VFW Auxiliary. She resided at the Benedictine Care Community in Ada since 2015.

Dorothy is survived by three daughters, Janice (Gordon) Carlsrud, Borup, MN, Joyce (Robert) Jamison, Lake Park, MN and Sheila (Kent) Johnson, Pharr, TX, seven grandchildren, Julie (Kurt) Motschenbacher, Moorhead, MN; Jennifer (Jeffrey) Lamp, Fargo, ND; Joel (Staci) Jamison, Huntsville, AL; Thor (Melissa) Carlsrud, New Hope, MN; Sarah (Jason) Saude, Moorhead, MN; Jay (Stephanie) Johnson, Belgrade, MT and Cody Johnson, Pharr, TX. Twelve great grandchildren survive: Jared and Karley Motschenbacher, Justin, Lauren and Emma Lamp, Klare, Molly and Colin Jamison, Kolton Saude, Harrison and Oliver Carlsrud and Mason Johnson. Two sisters, Evelyn VonHoldt, Hoyt Lakes, MN and Marcella Olson, Crosby, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arnold in May of 1994, grandson, Kevin Carlsrud, five brothers, five sisters and one step sister.

Funeral: 11:00AM Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: O ne hour before the service.

Burial: Ada City Cemetery, Ada, MN.
