Dorothy J. Bartz, 89, of Ada, MN, died Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Mission Court of the Benedictine Living Community in Ada.

Dorothy was born on October 31, 1927, at home on a farm near Hendrum, MN, to Hans and Isabel (Brooks) Rockstad. She attended District 74 country school near their farm. Dorothy was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Hendrum, MN, where she was baptized, confirmed and later married by Rev. J.J. Jacobson.

On July 25, 1947, Dorothy married Lynn Bartz and together they farmed near Lockhart, MN, until Lynn's death in 1972. Together they had two children who survive her, Dwight (Lori) Bartz, Moorhead, MN, and Pamela (Les) Larter, Alexandria, MN. Other survivors include: five grandchildren, Bryan (and Rachel Bartz), Darrin (and Kendra Bartz), Nathan (and Sara Bartz), Casey (and Caitlin Bartz) and Colin Larter, six great grandchildren, Ethan, Elijah, Owen, Rylee, Jaidan, and Bailey, one sister, Harriet Merkins, Ada, MN, and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was a member of Immanuel-Pleasant View Lutheran Church until joining Grace Lutheran Church, in Ada. She was also a member of the Ada VFW Auxiliary. She worked many years caring for others as a nurse's aide. Dorothy loved to knit and many people received them as gifts.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, Clifford, Richard, James, and Walter E., two infant brothers, Walter Leroy and Donald, and five sisters, Esther Hellerud, Helen Million, Isabel Hellerud, Grace Bergh, and Irene Rockstad.

Funeral: 11:00AM Friday, October 27, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: 5:00PM to7:00PM with a 6:30PM prayer service on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home in Ada.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
