Doris Lomsdalen, age 84, of Ulen, MN, died Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Sanford Health Systems in Fargo, ND.
Doris Irene Thompson was born December 24, 1931, the daughter of Tilliam and Lena (Boland) Thompson, the second oldest of 10 children. Doris was born, raised and attended school at Lisbon, ND. On June 24, 1951, Doris was united in marriage to Kermit Lomsdalen in Lisbon. The couple made their home near Ulen where they farmed raising crops, livestock and three children: JoAnn, Kerwin and Darwin. In 1982, she and Kermit began their own gravel business, Lomsdalen Gravel. She, along with her husband, drove gravel truck for 11 years. They moved into Ulen in 1993.
Doris was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church where she was active in ladies aid. Over the years she was a member of the Ulen VFW Auxiliary as well as the Ulen Senior Center. Doris was also involved with the Ulen Country Melodies Band for 10 years. Doris was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest joys were her family and taking care of them. Family, friend, neighbor, or stranger, could always count on a fresh cup of coffee and homemade goodies from Doris' kitchen, especially her doughnuts.
Doris is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kermit Lomsdalen of Ulen, MN; daughter, JoAnn Salter and son, Kerwin (Renee) Lomsdalen, all of Ulen, MN; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Robert (Judy) Thompson of Lake Park, MN, Jim (Doris) Thompson of Wheatland, ND and Roger Thompson of Lake Park, MN; sisters: Shirley (Jon) Knutson of Lake Park, MN, Linda (Jerry) Gerner and Jan (Jim) Phillips all of Moorhead, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Darwin, and three brothers: Donald, Gary and Willard.
