Donna Yarbrough, age 83, of Ulen, MN, formerly Hitterdal, died Monday, October 26, 2015, in Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen.

Donna Fay Bakke was born November 15, 1931, to Perry and Gladys (Lundberg) Bakke at home in rural Lake Park, MN. As a young girl, Donna's parents purchased a farm in rural Hitterdal. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Hitterdal High School with the class of 1949. Donna was united in marriage to Herbert Yarbrough on May 13, 1950. As the first couple married in Salem Lutheran Church, their ceremony was performed in the basement as the finishing touches were still being made upstairs in the new church. The newlyweds made their first home together in rural Hawley, MN. In 1955, Herb and Donna purchased a farm in rural Hitterdal, where they would raise their eight children. When the children were older, Donna worked various jobs including at the café in Ulen, school in Hitterdal, and for many years at the grocery store in Hitterdal. Donna entered the Viking Manor Nursing Home in November of 2010 and Herb remains on the farm.

Between raising eight children and taking time for herself, Donna was always busy. She enjoyed camping and snowmobiling in her younger years and as she aged, BINGO became her weekly outing. She and Herb loved to travel, even journeying to places like England and Alaska. Donna was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church and was past president of the ladies aid.

Donna is survived by her husband of 65 years, Herbert, Hitterdal; five daughters: Diane (Kenny) Burnside, Ulen, Susan (Ron) Braseth, Dilworth, MN, Karen (Don) Wisk, Joyce (Wayne) Jacobson, both of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Joni (Larry) Blixt of Amenia, ND; three sons: James, Hitterdal, Terry, Ulen, and Randy (Darla), Bemidji, MN; 22 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jocelyn (Robert) Herzog, Ulen; four brothers: Gene (Jean) Bakke, Rice Lake, WI, Bob (Diane) Bakke and Wayne (Barb) Bakke, both of Ulen, and Gary (Connie) Bakke of Fargo, ND; one brother-in-law, Erling Kolke; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, DeVaughn Kolke; two brothers, Clyde and Roger and two great-grandchildren, Bria and Chase.

Funeral Services were held Friday, October 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal, MN. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Officiating was Pastor Ruth Popkin with Penny Herzog serving as organist and Susan Green as vocalist. Pallbearers were Blake Jacobson, Jeremy Burnside, Andy Yarbrough, Dana Braseth, Derek Braseth and Tyler Yarbrough. Honorary pallbearers were all of Donna's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Interment was in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Hitterdal.
