Donna Thompson, age 58, of Gary, Minnesota, died Wednesday, October 8, 2008, in MeritCare Health Systems, Fargo, North Dakota.
Donna Mae Thompson was born February 8th, 1950, the daughter of Berdien and Ida (Boe) Thompson in Ada, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm south of Gary and attended the Gary school. Donna always had a special interest in animals and enjoyed working with all of the farm animals. After her mother needed to move into a nursing home in 2000, Donna moved into Gary where she lived with her sister, Shirley. This was a great time for Donna to become actively involved with her nieces and nephews and their families. Donna loved participating in the activities at the Norman County DAC in Ada. She was an avid Twins and Vikings fan and cheered on the local school teams as well.
Donna will be remembered for her laughter and love of animals. She treasured the time she got to watch her nieces and nephews play basketball. Donna also enjoyed watching western movies on television.
Donna is survived by her sister, Shirley (Johnny L.) Moe of Gary, MN; brothers, Lloyd (Hazel) Thompson and Dennis (LaVonne) Thompson all of Twin Valley, MN, LeRoy Aanenson of Gary, MN and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Morris and a sister, Inez Holm.
Funeral Services was held on Saturday, October 11th at 10:30 A.M. in Gary Lutheran Church, Gary. Officiating was Pastor John Ahola with Alden Anderson serving as organist and Tricia Thompson of Ada, as vocalist. Pallbearers were Dale and Terri Sirjord, Ben and Tamara Ramstorf, Josh and Natalie Sirjord and John Moe, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Mya Smith, Riley and Kennedy Ramstorf and all of her friends at the Norman County DAC.
Burial was in Gary Lutheran Cemetery, Gary, Minnesota.
