Donna Jones, age 70, of Elbow Lake Village, rural Waubun, MN, died Friday, November 4, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN.
Donna Faye Murray, daughter of Edward and Mary (Bellanger) Murray, was born on October 26, 1941 in White Earth, MN. As a young child, she moved with her family to the Minneapolis, MN, area. She grew up in the metro area and attended school there. In 1961, Donna was united in marriage to Paul Anderson Sr. and the couple lived in North Minneapolis. Donna worked various jobs and in the mid sixties, she married Wilfred "Jack" Jones. She spent much of her time raising their young children before returning to college. Donna received her degree in Chemical Dependency counseling and was employed with the Outreach Program at St. Stevens Church in South Minneapolis. Over the years, Donna often traveled between the Minneapolis area and the Roy Lake, MN, area to be with family. In the 1980's, they moved permanently to a home at Elbow Lake Village. Following Jacks death in 1990, Donna continued to make her home in Elbow Lake.
Donna was a gifted artist and crafted various projects over the years. She loved drawing, poetry, and pottery. She also appreciated the outdoors, often going for walks or a drive to simply see the plants and flowers. She enjoyed nature of all types and used many natural elements in her artwork. Her many gifts to her family and friends will be forever treasured.
Donna is survived by one daughter, Vera Martin of Nisland, SD; three sons: Paul (Christina) Anderson II of Mahnomen, MN, Thomas Jones of Cass Lake, MN, and Jamie (Kayce) Jones of Bagley, MN; her mother, Mary Murray, Detroit Lakes, MN; two brothers, Leo Murray and Dan (Judy) Murray all of Waubun, MN; three sisters: Grace Hagen of Minneapolis, Judy Toppings of White Earth and Vera Murray of Minneapolis, MN; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews including very close nieces: Janet, Lisa, and Anita. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward; and her husband, Wilfred.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 2 pm at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Naytahwaush, MN. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 9th from 5-7 pm and one hour prior to Mass, all at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery, Naytahwaush.
