Donna Hedahl, age 80, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.
Donna Orianna Hedahl was born January 18, 1931, the daughter of Eddie and Alice (Gullingsrud) Hedahl on the farm east of Twin Valley. She grew up there and attended school in Twin Valley, graduating from Twin Valley High School with the class of 1949. Upon her graduation, Donna was employed at the Ada Hospital. It was in Ada that she met Herman Dittmer and they were united in marriage in July of 1949. The couple had four children and made their home in Bejou, Minnesota for a time before Donna moved back to Twin Valley. She worked as a waitress and cook as well as being a homemaker and raising her family. In 1958 she married Harvey Hansen and they had three children. They made their home in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
In the 1960's and early 1970's, Donna and children lived in Oregon, California and then back to Twin Valley where she continued to live until the time of her death.
Donna's favorite past times included doing yard work and tending her flowerbeds. She will be long remembered for her home cooking and family Sunday dinners. Donna loved spending time with her friends, but truly treasured the time she spent with her family.
Donna is survived by sons, Duane Dittmer of Billings, MT and David (Takako) Hansen; daughters, Loretta (Jim) Olson of Twin Valley, MN, Angela Dittmer of Kauai, HI, Diana (Roger) Saker of Twin Valley, MN, and Becky Hansen of Gary, MN; brothers, Alton Hedahl of Libby, MT and Duane (Beverly) Hedahl of Great Falls, MT; 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Dennis, a brother, Kermit and two sisters, Gladys and Erma.
Memorial Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at 2:00pm in the Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley, MN. There was a time of gathering one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Officiating was Pastor Al Brooks with Peggy Hanson serving as organist and special music provided by Sarah Mickelson and Matt Miller. Urn bearers were Duane Dittmer, Becky Hansen and David Hansen.
