Dolores Ann Aas, 87, of Hendrum, Minnesota, died December 2, 2010, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND. She was born on October 29, 1923, to Lars and Anne (Phelan) Hylden at East Grand Forks, MN. She was the eighth of 11 children. Dolores grew up and attended school in Park River, ND, graduating in 1941. She continued her education at Moorhead State Teacher's college at Moorhead, MN, receiving a two year teaching certificate. After several years, Dolores attended Mayville State College, Mayville, ND, receiving a four year Bachelor of Science degree in education.
On June 10, 1950, Dolores was united in marriage to John Aas at Hope, ND. Her brother, Fr. Joseph Hylden, officiated at the ceremony. Dolores taught school in Hope, ND, Hendrum, MN, and for 24 years at Little Flower School in Rugby, ND. Dolores and John were blessed with four daughters who were raised in Rugby.
Dolores' outgoing personality allowed her to be a tremendous member of several organizations: Girl Scouts, American Legion Auxiliary, Literacy Club, President of North Dakota Chiropractic Auxiliary, General Federation of Women's Club, Christian Mothers, and Altar Society, as well as others. She served as President in many of the organizations. Dolores had the ability to engage perfect strangers and in minutes have a new friend. She was generous, kind, loving, and genuinely interest in others. She loved to sew, bake, collect cook books and be involved with her church. She especially loved her family and was dearly loved in return.
Dolores is survived by her husband, John, Hendrum; four daughters: Mary Jo Welch and her husband, Les, Roseau, MN, Laura Hopkin, New Prague, MN, Kristen Galbreath and her husband, Randy, Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada, and Sara Parke and her husband, Ken, Dilworth, MN; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Shannon Dostal and her husband, Daniel, and their children, Isaac, Andy, and Julia; Bryon Welch and his wife, Sara, and their children, Ethan and Daken; Anne Peters and her husband, Damon; Michael Welch; Ian and Nicole Hopkins; Nathan, Alysha, and Kacie Galbreath; Briana Scearcy and her husband, Todd, and their daughter, Carly; and Michelle Parke; sisters: Mary Don Linneman, Sleepy Eye, MN, Loretto Ludowese, Atwood, MN, and Audrey Corcoran and her husband, Donald, Fallbrook, CA; many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Maurice, Margaret, Harold, Father Joseph, Lloyd, Frances, Donald, and Larry.

Memorial Service: Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at 11 am in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Halstad, MN.

Visitation: Tuesday, December 7, 2010, from 5-7 pm with a prayer services at 6:30 pm and a rosary to follow at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Halstad, MN.

Burial: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hendrum, MN
