Diane Halland, age 62, of Gary, Minnesota died Friday, December 24, 2010, in her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Diane I. Jenson was born September 21, 1948, the daughter of Herman and Francies (Dolen) Jenson in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She was raised in Fargo, North Dakota, where she graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to Dennis Halland on November 22, 1968 at Ness Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Fargo for a short time and later near Plentywood, Montana. After that, Diane and Dennis made their home on a farm east of Gary where they raised their three sons. From 1985 to 1989, they owned and operated the Gary Café. Dennis died November 22, 2001and Diane has continued to live on the farm near Gary. Over the years, Diane was employed at the Lutheran Memorial Nursing Home in food services in Twin Valley as well as the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen. Most recently, Diane transported local residents for Tri-Valley for a year and a half until her health would no longer allow it.
Diane was a member of Ness Lutheran Church where she was involved in the ladies circle. Other favorite past times included playing cards and bingo. She also treasured the time she spent with her family.
Diane is survived by her three sons, Darren Halland, Derrick Halland and Keith Halland all of Gary, MN; a brother, David (Carol) Jenson of Fargo, ND and a sister, JoAnn Nelson of Moorhead, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Darlene and two brothers, Jack and Oren.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM in Ness Lutheran Church, rural Gary. Visitation was Wednesday, December 29th from 5 to 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM at the church. Visitation was one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Officiating was Pastor John Ahola with Julia Mae Gullingsrud serving as organist. Pallbearers were Bradley Thronson, Tim Halland, Dan Nelson, Chad Nelson, Chris Holmvik and Randy Gorder.
Inurnment was in the Ness Lutheran Cemetery.
