DeWayne Roger Miller, 69, Gary, MN, died Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. He was born on January 17, 1947, to Selmer and Lorraine (Jacobson) Aune at Ada, MN. DeWayne attended school in Gary, graduating from the Gary High School in 1965.

On February 6, 1966, DeWayne was united in marriage to LaVonne Stene in Ada, MN. They lived in the communities of Moorhead, MN, Ada, MN, and Fertile. DeWayne delivered grain and other products as an over the road truck driver. He delivered many loads of grain to the Ports of Duluth, MN and Superior, WI. On September 19, 1992, he was united in marriage to Barbara Smeby at Sundal Lutheran Church, rural Gary. In 1993, DeWayne began working at the Shooting Star Casino, where he worked until the present as a Slot Lead. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in July of 2016.

DeWayne was a kind, talkative, and adventurous man. He loved Semi-Trucks and Trailers, old cars, four wheeling and driving his convertible. Church life at Sundal Lutheran Church was very meaningful and encouraging for DeWayne. Often, DeWayne could be heard Whistling songs that came to mind. He treasured his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

DeWayne is survived by his children: Scott Stene, Omaha, NE; Darcy (Joy), Ada, MN; Sandra (Bruce) Williams, Thief River Falls, MN; Holly (Paul Eckstein) Crandall, St Hilaire, MN; and Dustin, Thief River Falls, MN; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; siblings: Stanley (Ramona) Aune, Gary, MN; Arlene (Dale) Sip, Ada, MN; and Peggy (Eugene) Hanson, Gary, MN; several cousins, nephews and nieces. DeWayne was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral: 11:00AM Monday, September, 19, 2016, at Sundal Lutheran Church, rural Fertile, MN.

Visitation: 3:00-5:00PM Sunday with a 5:00PM prayer service at Sundal Lutheran Church, Fertile.
