Dennis Shambow, age 65, of Mahnomen, MN, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Mahnomen Health Center.

Dennis Jay was born April 1, 1959, in Virginia, MN, the youngest son of Marvin and Darlene (Perrault) Shambow.  He grew up and attended school on the Iron Range in Northern Minnesota.  Dennis was united in marriage to Margo Myhre and they were blessed with three children.  After several years, the couple divorced.  Over the years, Dennis worked as a Blackjack dealer at Fortune Bay Casino in Tower, MN, and later at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen.  He enjoyed spending time with family between Eveleth, MN, and Mahnomen but has spent the majority of the past 20 years living in Mahnomen with his mom and brother, Marvin.  Dennis also enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering as a mechanic but his pride and joy remained his grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Dennis is survived by two daughters, Hillary Shambow and Ashley (Randall Reicher) Callen both of Eveleth; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Eck of Waubun and Margaret Myhre of Mahnomen; four brothers: Marvin and Michael both of Mahnomen, Leonard of Hastings, MN, and Gary of Eveleth; several nieces, nephews and extended family.  He was preceded in death by his son, Preston; parents; three sisters: Barbara, Dorothy and Lenora; an infant brother, Dean; and brothers-in-law, Bill Eck and Jim Myhre.
