Obituary

Dennis Wayne Lindberg, 72, of Fertile, MN, died on Sunday, February 5, 2012, at the Riverview Care Center, Crookston, MN. He was born December 27, 1939 on the farm in Bear Park Township, Polk County, to Marvin and Marie (Tweeten) Lindberg. He attended country school, and graduated from Fertile High School in 1957, and was active in 4-H. Because his father died and Dennis needed to assist with the farm, he was only able to attend NDSU in Fargo, ND for one year
On December 25, 1960, Dennis was united in marriage to Janice Stromstad at Scandia Lutheran Church, rural Beltrami. They adopted three children, Ross, Troy, and Dawn, and raised them on the farm in rural Fertile. Dennis and his family were involved in agriculture all his life. He raised cows and pigs when he was young. Dennis worked at American Crystal Sugar Company in the winter when he first started farming. He grew wheat, barley, soybeans, sunflowers, and flax. He raised Foundation, Certified, and Registered seed. As the farm operation grew, he started Lakeland Seeds, Inc to clean seed for his own use and for re-sale. This seed plant handled soybeans, sunflowers, and small grains, and was the first seed plant in the area to sell bulk seed. After he stopped farming, he ran a honey bee operation with his son Ross. They produced bulk honey and provided pollination services in California. Dennis was also was involved in several home building, construction, and landscape projects around the Fertile area.
Dennis liked working and being very active with many activities including working on the farm, fishing, and landscape design. He enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors, and was known to spend many hours on the phone talking with people. Dennis faced multiple health complications the latter part of his life. He had strong determination to overcome these challenges, and fought them for many years.
Dennis is survived by Janice Lindberg, Hutchinson, MN; two sons, Ross Lindberg, Williston, ND, Troy (Lizabeth) Fertile; and one daughter, Dawn Lindberg, St. Paul, MN; grandchildren Amy Page, Lisa Berscheid, Dawn Cordova, Jordan Lindberg, Hunter Lindberg, Brekken Lindberg, and Elliana Lindberg; one sister, Marion (Arlen) Wang, Desoto, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank Dr. Levitt and the staff at the Roger Maris Cancer Cener in Fargo, the staff at Riverview Healthcare in Crookston, and the staff @ Altru in Crookston for the excellent care they provided. We would also like to thank Dad's friends for all their support, and visits.

Memorial services will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at 10:30 am in the Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN.

Visitation will be one hour before the services in the church.

Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fertile, MN.
