Staff Sergeant Dennis Mark Bakken (retired), 62, died March 7, 2015, at his residence with his wife, Charlotte by his side.

Dennis was born on June 4, 1952, in Fosston to Lloyd and Mildred (Lomen) Bakken. He grew up in the Fosston/Lengby area. He attended the Antell Country School, Fosston High School, and was valedictorian at Mount Wachusett College.

On January 12, 1974, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Lashua and together they made their home in New Hampshire with their two children. Dennis was proud to serve as a Green Beret in the Army 10th Special Forces, where he had a distinguished career and was an honor graduate of many training schools.

In addition to his loving wife, Charlotte, he leaves his son Jeffrey and daughter Kristi, both of New Hampshire; sister, Iris (Larry) Peper of Omaha NE; brother, Brendt of Fosston MN; sister, Lynette (Joe) Kulzer of Beltrami MN; sister-in-law Rose (Earle) Bakken Rainsette of Shelvin MN; and many nieces and nephews as well as inlays on the east coast.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence and Hilda Bakken, Olaf and Cora Lomen; Parents, Lloyd and Mildred; and brother, Earle.

Family services were held.
