Deloris Hixson, age 89, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Saturday, December 04, 2010, at Bridges Care Community in Ada, Minnesota.

Deloris Emma Simonson was born August 10, 1921, the daughter of Soren and Orva (Jones) Simonson near Gary, Minnesota. Deloris attended school in Gary and was baptized and confirmed her faith at the Gary Lutheran Church. As a young lady, Deloris worked for area farmers. In 1939, Deloris was united in marriage to Gotfred Huseby in Ada, Minnesota, where the couple made their home for a few years. To this union, two children were born; Mavis and Wayne. In 1942, the family moved to California where Deloris worked in numerous jobs and where she and Gotfred raised their children. In 1968, Deloris married John Hixson and they made their home in California. Over the years, Deloris was employed at a glass manufacturing plant and later at a candy factory. In early 2000's, she moved back to Minnesota and settled in Twin Valley with her son, Wayne. About a year ago, Delores entered the Bridges Care Community where she resided until the time of her death.

While living in California, Delores was an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Delores is survived by her daughter, Mavis Closser, Oroville, CA; a grandson, Lee Closser, Newalla, OK; one brother, Lyle (Joyce) Simonson and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Hixson, infant daughter Mae, son Wayne, brothers, Emil Simonson and Lester Simonson, sisters, Elaine Johnson and Doreen Olson.

A memorial service was held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Good News Fellowship Church in Gary, Minnesota. Officiating was Pastor Norm Gullingsrud with music provided by Norm and Lori Gullingsrud and Joel and Kathy Anderson.
