Obituary

Delores "Jeannie Viz" Jackson, age 71, was called home on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at her home in Mahnomen, MN, surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Jeannie was born July 7, 1949, in White Earth, MN. After high school, she enrolled in the criminal justice program at Moorhead State University in Moorhead, MN. Jeannie worked and lived in various cities in Minnesota and Wisconsin, most recently making her home in Mahnomen for the past few years. One of her biggest passions was working as a mental health counselor in Moorhead.

Family was of the utmost importance to Jeannie. She worked hard to raise her children while instilling in them the important core values needed to be a successful adult. Her lifelong partner, Blaine, her children: Curt, Brenda, and Mike, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the ones who really completed her. She loved her family more than anything and cherished every minute she had with them all the way up to her time of passing. Jeannie was a kind and gentle woman with the biggest heart. Her smile lit up every room she entered. In her spare time, she enjoyed trips to the casino and board games.

Jeannie is survived by her loving partner, Blaine Buss of Mahnomen; her children: Curt Jackson of Elbow Lake, MN, Brenda Jackson of Mahnomen, and Mike Garvin of Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Jenna, Jessica, Gracie, Almir, Sky and Emmy; great-grandchildren: Oakley, Adelaide, Jocelyn, Evelyn, Declan, Julian, Orlando and Emilio: and her sister, Sandy of Connecticut. Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Vizenor and Cecelia Jackson; an infant daughter, Ruth; two infant grandchildren, Jordan and Aaron; along with numerous close family members.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Blessed be the memory of Delores "Jeannie Viz" Jackson.
