Delores "Dolly" Adeline Severson, 85, Fertile, MN, died at her residence on Saturday, August 17, 2013. She was born on January 28, 1928, to Ole and Viola (Ellegaard) Severson at Hatton, ND. Dolly was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hatton. She graduated from the Hatton High School in 1946, and during her high school years, Dolly picked potatoes. In the 1950's, Dolly moved to Fertile, where she initially babysat for many families, a work she totally enjoyed. In the early 1970's, she worked at the Top Notch Steak House. On August 31, 1977, Dolly began working at the Fair Meadow Nursing Home, retiring on June 3, 2005. She worked as a nursing assistant and later as a housekeeper. Dolly truly enjoyed being retired, especially not having to wake up at 3 AM.
Dolly's greatest joys came from her great nieces and nephew—Julia, Hannah, Belinda, and Cristian. She loved to read stories, playing games, or just cuddling in a chair watching TV. Sewing, walking, reading, visiting family and friends, playing cards, growing flowers and loving children were activities that brought Dolly joy and fulfillment.
Dolly is survived by her sister, Carol (Sherman) Johnson, Brooklyn Park, MN; several nieces, nephews: Carole Sand (Dennis) Johnson, Delores (Stanley) Sundquist, Deborah (David) Edevold, Lori Severson, Jane (Jeff) Jorgenson, Kari (Tom) Vinson, Roby (Sheryl), Randy (Janet) Severson, Brian Johnson, Steven Pizzuti, Raymond Pizzuti, and James Pizzuti; a large number of great nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also, all the children she babysat and cared for during her life in Fertile. She was a very caring and thoughtful person all her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Orville and James (Bud); sisters: Sylvia Sand, Selma Pizzuti, and Barb Weber; nephews: Ronald Sand, Ritchie Severson; niece, Carrie Johnson.
Memorial services will be on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at 2 PM in the Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile, MN.
Visitation will be one hour before the services.
Burial will be at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
