Obituary

Delores L. Olson, age 76, of Twin Valley, MN, died Sunday, January 22, 2017, in her home surrounded by her family, friends, and beloved dogs Buffy, Lucy and Cuda, while under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Delores Lee Ann Pinske was born April 16, 1940, the daughter of Paul and Anne (Beard) Pinske in Ada, MN. As a child she grew up in the Ada community, until marrying Ernest Dunbar. The couple later divorced. On March 11, 1966, Delores was united marriage to Donald "Gordon" Olson in Sisseton, SD. The couple made their home near Twin Valley where they raised five children. While being a mother and homemaker, Delores also worked at several jobs in the 1970's and 1980's which included: cleaning new homes built by the Twin Valley Lumber Yard, cleaning the Hartz Grocery Store and the Twin valley Liquor Store. Over the years, she also worked and cleaned at the Twin Valley Bakery. Delores appreciated living in the country where she could raise all sorts of animals. She enjoyed being outdoors tending to her garden, her animals, and just loving life. Gordon and Delores moved into town in the 1990's. They enjoyed their retirement years spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gordon passed away January 30, 2012. Delores had also suffered from many illnesses since the 1980's. She was a tough fighter no matter what was thrown her way, but Delores lost her last battle with kidney disease, Parkinson's, and lung cancer. Delores will always be remembered as a hard worker and determined mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Delores is survived by sons: Tom (Tami) Dunbar and Reed (Denise) Olson all of Twin Valley, MN, and Tim (Kathy) Olson of New Town, ND; a daughter, Linda Olson of Twin Valley; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosalie Jenson of Twin Valley, MN and Alice Rustad of Anoka, MN; and special friends, Sandra Merkle, Shirley Bangen and Diane Green.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon; son, Donald Dunbar; great-granddaughter, Dana Dunbar; brother, Robert Pinske; and a sister, Jeraldine Com.
