Delores Brenna, age 80, of Ulen, Minnesota, died Monday, October 16, 2006, in Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen.
Delores Mae Trapp was born June 5, 1926, at home by a mid-wife, in Nome, North Dakota, the daughter of Otto and Randi (Huseth-Skare) Trapp. Delores was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at First Lutheran Church of Enderlin, North Dakota on June 2, 1940. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from Enderlin High School with the class of 1945. After graduation, Delores was employed as a telephone operator in Fargo, North Dakota. On February 7, 1951, Delores was united in marriage to Norman Brenna in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The couple lived for a several years in Minneapolis, then for a time in Moorhead, Minnesota before moving to a farm in Keene Township, near Ulen, in 1958. Delores worked as a cook in the Ulen High School until retiring in 1988. She continued to live on the farm after Norman's death in 1962. In the fall of 1969, Delores moved into Ulen, most recently residing in the Northern Lights Assisted Living Apartments and for the last month, in the Viking Manor Nursing Home.
Delores' favorite past times included sewing, crocheting and she was an excellent baker and cook. Delores was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Auxillary, Delores enjoyed being a grandmother and especially treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Delores is survived by a son, Norman (Kathy) of Thief River Falls, MN; daughters, Jean (Harvey) Hanson of Ulen, MN, Barbara (Merle) Schenck of Hawley, MN and Randi (Bill) Lloyd of Deer Lodge, MT; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norman, brothers, Orvin and Morris Skare, sister, Myrtle Skare and granddaughter, Stacie Schenck.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 11:00 AM in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 18, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen. Visitation will also be one hour before services at the church on Thursday.
Interment will be in Keene Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ulen, MN.
