Beloved mother and grandmother Alice Delores (Nelson) Anderson, 86, Shelly, MN, died peacefully, Friday March 23, 2018, at Halstad Living Center & Heritage House, Halstad, MN, with her family by her side.

Delores was born April 14, 1931, the fifth daughter and eleventh child to Nikolai and Carrie (Stuhaug) Nelson on the farm near Lockhart, MN. As a young child, Delores would help with chores on the family farm. Delores attended a one-room schoolhouse in Good Hope Township through the eighth grade. She then went to work to help support her family.

On September 25, 1949, Delores was united in marriage to Robert Harris Anderson at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Shelly. They lived in several homes in the Shelly area until they built their home on McKinley Ave., Shelly in 1957. Their son, Robert D., was born in 1950, and daughter Marilyn, in 1952. Delores lived in the Shelly, MN area for the rest of her life.

Delores owned and operated the D & R Hartz Grocery Store in Shelly for twelve years. She was a longtime member of the Shelly Fire Department and Rescue Squad. Delores was a member of Shelly Marsh River Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid.

Delores's loved ones were her pride and joy. She was always behind the camera, she attended every family event with a camera and enough film for 1000 pictures. She was always there. Karate practice, football games, soccer matches, birthdays, proms, graduations, weddings... she was always there to celebrate and document the events and achievements of her beloved family. She had walls, refrigerator doors, and dresser drawers overflowing with pictures, and she always wanted to share them and the stories about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved unconditionally.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, parents, Nikolai and Carrie, brothers, Oscar (Hilda), Clifford (Lorraine), Garfield (Ruth), Stanley (Helen), Nels "Billy", Kenneth (Darlene), sisters, Menda (Conrad), Lilly (Irvin), Myrtle (Charles), Mable (Howard), and grandson, Brandon Rasmussen.

Delores is survived by her younger sister, Ruthie Melting, son, Robert D. (Andrea), daughter, Marilyn Whiting (fiancé Curt Crowley), grandchildren, Jeremy Chandler, Rashelle (Todd Schuler) Anderson, Nichelle (Jeff) Kluver, Travis Rasmussen, Kris (Jeremy Hangsleben) Anderson, Brandon Whiting, Dereck (Becky) Rasmussen, Alyssa Whiting, Justin (Kelly) Chandler, Ashley (Ginelle) Whiting, Maren Gemar, Ellen Martin and Kari Thompson, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorials preferred to-  Halstad Living Center and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Funeral: 2:00PM, Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Shelly Marsh River Lutheran Church, Shelly, Minnesota.

Visitation: Monday, March 26 ^th from 5:00-7:00PM, at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Halstad, MN.

Burial: Shelly Cemetery, Shelly, MN.
