Delmar Duane Brueshoff, 70, Moorhead, MN, formerly of Ada, MN, died on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Evergreens Assisted Living Center, Moorhead, MN. He was born on March 10, 1939, to Lavi and Bertha (Baumgarten) Brueshoff in Ada, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Pleasant View Lutheran Church, rural Ada. Delmar grew up in rural Ada and at 10 years of age, his father died. Delmar and his family continued to operate the home farm. Delmar graduated from Ada High School in 1957. Following his graduation, Delmar was employed by American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead as a chemist, a job he held until 2002 (45 years).
In 1965, Delmar was united in marriage to Carolyn Williams in Moorhead. They were blessed with two children, Beth and Bart. He farmed with his brother, Ross, for many years and then on his own until he retired from farming in the mid 1980's. Delmar continued to live in Ada until moving to Evergreens Assisted Living Center, Moorhead, in 2005.
Delmar was a long time member of East Marsh River Lutheran Church, rural Halstad, and the Ada Senior Center, serving as President at one time.
Watching football (especially the Green Bay Packers), baseball, basketball, and NASCAR were favorite pastimes. He was an avid John Deere fan and liked anything green and yellow. He also enjoyed traveling and playing cards. Delmar found great pleasure in seeing his grandchildren, but his greatest joy and love was holding his grandbabies, Morgan and Lauren.
Delmar is survived by his daughter, Beth (Steve) Winterquist, Reiles Acres, ND; son, Bart, Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren: Carter Brueshoff, Madison Winterquist, Morgan Winterquist, and Lauren Winterquist, all of Reiles Acres, ND; one brother, Ross (Harriet), Ada, MN; three sisters, Jean (Glenn) Tollerud, Moorhead, MN; Mavis Hedin, Fargo, ND; and Doris (Dave) Lundon, Crookston, MN; several nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lavi 1949 and Bertha 1994, and one sister, Marlene (Brueshoff) Hoven 2000.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at 2 pm in the East Marsh River Free Lutheran Church, rural Halstad, MN. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the services.
