Debra Sargent, age 72, of Mahnomen, MN, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Sanford Health Center in Fargo, ND.

Debra was born April 23, 1953, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Clayton Paulson and Paticia Matson.  She grew up in the metro area and graduated from Henry High School in Northeast Minneapolis.  Following graduation, Debra moved to Brainerd, MN, for a time.  She met Douglas Sargent and the two were united in marriage on November 21, 1975.  They moved to Crookston, MN, for a time before settling in Mahnomen in the late 90's.  Together they raised three children.  Debra worked in housekeeping at the Shooting Star Casino for a number of years and enjoyed the many friendships she made there as well.

In retirement, Deb enjoyed coloring, watching TV, doing crossword puzzles and word finds.  She loved spending time with family and friends, often cooking large meals for them to share.  In her down time, Debra could often be found reading a romance novel, a diet Pepsi in hand and a cat or two cuddled in on her lap.  She loved animals, especially her two cats.  She will be missed by many.

She leaves behind her husband, Douglas Sargent of Mahnomen; son, James Sargent of Mahnomen; daughters, Stacy (Jason) Knox of Naytahwaush, MN, and Tanya Sargent of Pillager, MN; six grandchildren; a sister, Kathy Paulson; nieces, nephews and a host of extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and a half sister.
