Obituary

Dean Roger Lee, the son of Theodore and Dora (Boe) Lee was born on February 18, 1941 in Halstad, MN. When he was small, Dean moved with this family to Gary, MN where he attended school. On October 21, 1961, Dean was united in marriage to Violet Tunks at Green Meadow Church near Ada, MN. The couple made their first home in Twin Valley, MN shortly thereafter returning to Gary. As a young man, Dean drove gravel truck for a time and was employed at the Cashway Lumberyard in Gary. Dean began his construction career working for Stanley Habedank Construction where he learned the trade. He owned and operated L&L Construction for several years building homes and doing projects in the local area. He then began working for Meineke Johnson Construction where he was employed until his retirement at the age of 62. Working in construction, Dean had an eye for detail. He took great pride in knowing that when his job was done, it was done right. He took the same pride in caring for his garden and his lawn. Dean's hands were never idle as he was always fixing and tinkering on things around the house and yard. In his early years, Dean liked to go deer hunting and more recently he enjoyed watching documentaries and a good western. He was an avid Minnesota Twins baseball fan. Dean was a private man but had a strong personality. Everyone knew, and teased, that Dean wasn't afraid to tell it like it was and that he had a bit of a stubborn streak but truly, deep down, he held his family close. Once someone broke into his heart, they were there forever. Even with failing health and labored breathing, Dean was able to stay in his home with Violet. He died suddenly but peacefully on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the age of 76. Dean is survived by his wife of 55 years, Violet of Gary; two children: Roger (Dawn) Lee of Gary, and Angie (Mark) Dueck of Twin Valley; eleven grandchildren: Christopher (Leah), Brian (Alissa), Andrew (Lynn), Mathew, Jennifer, Jessica, CaitLynn, Ashlynn, Wyatt, and Jazlin; and three great grandchildren: Skyler, Josh, and Trista. He was preceded in death by his parents; and tragically throughout the years, his son, Robert; daughter, Brenda Rude; son-in-law, Kevin Rude; and two grandsons, Jason and Adam. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley. A time of gathering for family and friends will be one hour before the service. Burial will take place in Gary Lutheran Cemetery.
