Obituary

David Allen Wilson, age 60, of Mahnomen, MN, died Thursday, November 6, 2014, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

David was born in Sisseton, SD, on January 20, 1954, the son of Robert and Yvonne (Spider) Wilson. The majority of Dave's youth was spent in the Minneapolis, MN, area. After graduating from Richfield High School, he attended Brown Institute for radio broadcasting. He continued to make his home in the cities, working several years for the Minneapolis Park Board and later for Arron Cryogenics in Blaine, MN. In addition to this employment, Dave had a passion for music and played the bass guitar in a band called "Red Fever". It was this love of music that allowed paths to cross between Karen Reyes and him in 1993. They have made their home in Mahnomen for the past 15 years and were recently united in marriage in August of 2013. While in Mahnomen, Dave worked at Super Pumper and later Shooting Star Casino until last year when his health began to decline.

Although having ups and downs with his health, his love for his music never wavered. Dave loved to play the guitar, sing and even write songs. His guitar was never far from reach and he played whenever he was able, which included his own wedding dance this past spring. Dave was a genuine person and was true friend to many. Karen's children readily accepted Dave as their father figure and Dave truly enjoyed the role of grandfather to their children. Dave also enjoyed the beauty of light houses, spending time with family and he sported a great sense of humor.

David is survived by his wife, Karen of Mahnomen; sons: David LuShine, Darrell Reyes, and Daniel (Linda) Wadena; daughters: Amy (Darwin Sr.) Bigbear, Josie (Fernando) Marin-Reyes and Debra Reyes; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters; special cousins, Tim and Brian Savior and his self-acclaimed brothers, Tim and Tom Armstrong. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Jerelle Bigbear and Antonio Reyes; and two sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at the Anderson Family Funeral Home, Mahnomen. Time of Gathering will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
