Watch David's Memorial Service

David Charles Sokolik, age 69, of White Earth, MN, joined the spirit world on Thursday, May 12, 2022.

David was born on September 9, 1953 in Detroit, MI, to David A. and Lois (Shambow) Sokolik. At a young age, David had an interest in firearms and kept busy working as a gunsmith at the age of 13. At 16, he was a young mechanic who adorned a shop uniform. David served the United States Army during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Germany. He had many adventures around the world, including England, Mexico and the Philippines. David later came back to the Waubun area where he enjoyed spending time outdoors enjoying nature.

David was a man of many talents, including being a naturally talented guitar player. He enjoyed playing classical rock. By the age of 15, David had obtained his black belt in karate. Animals were close to his heart and he was a proud member of the ASPCA. In his younger years, David had a pet alligator and a pitbull named Mindy. Currently, he had a beloved cat, Sam, and a parakeet, Pepper. He also enjoyed muscle cars. David was a man of faith and attended St. Benedict's church and always kept a prayer in his heart. He was loved by his friends and family for his wonderful sense of humor and his joke telling. David will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

David is joining in Paradise by his mother, Lois Sokolik; father, David Sokolik; one brother; special aunt; and other extended family.

David is survived by his sons, David; granddaughter, Rosalie; sister, Donna Eko; and significant other, Resa Munson.

A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 10:30 A.M., with a Time of Gathering starting one-hour prior at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen.
