Watch Shorty's Memorial Service

David "Shorty" Neisen, age 64, of Mahnomen, MN, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at his home.

David Paul Neisen, the son of Leander and Elizabeth (Kucera) Neisen, was born on December 25, 1954 in Mahnomen, MN.  The youngest of seven children, David was lovingly tagged as Shorty, a nickname he carried throughout his life.  He grew up in Mahnomen and graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1973.  Shorty farmed with his family for many years, selling the land in the early 1990's.  Together they also owned Neisen Trucking, hauling grain throughout Minnesota.  Shorty absolutely loved to drive so being an owner-operator was the perfect career.  He also liked to cruise around in his 1970 Charger and his Jeep when not on truck duty.  He was often found working around the shop where he would tinker for hours.  Shorty was blessed with two children, Daniel and Kimberly whom he enjoyed spending time with.  He was an avid fan of classic rock and proudly knew facts about all of his favorite bands.  He also enjoyed playing Bingo and driving 4-wheeler.  After spending Christmas Day, his 64 ^th birthday, with his children Shorty passed away suddenly at his home.

He is survived by his children, Daniel (fiancé, Jocelyn Kremer) and Kimberly (Lucas Fillbrandt) Neisen, all of Fargo, ND; two brothers, Robert (Ginny) and Mike (Debbie), all of Mahnomen; two sisters,  Sister Judy Neisen of Clyde, MO, and Carol (Rod) Farrace of Clark Fork, ID; a sister-in-law, Carol (Terry) Egstad of Grand Forks; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Steven and Roger.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN.  A time of gathering will be held one hour prior to the Service at the Funeral Home.  Inurnment will be at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Mahnomen.
