David R. Mayer, age 53, Twin Valley, Minnesota died Saturday, July21, 2007, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota

David R. Mayer was born July 20, 1954, the son of Wilbert and Erma (Fercho) Mayer in Gackle, North Dakota. He was raised with his family near Medina, North Dakota, where he grew up and attended school. As a young man, David worked with his father on the farm as well as driving milk truck. On May 10th, 1975, David was united in marriage to Debbie Mittleider in Cleveland, North Dakota. After their marriage, David worked for his father-in-law. They moved to Twin Valley in 1978. The couple farmed for several years southwest of Twin Valley. In 1986, David began trucking where he hauled gravel, grain, cattle, pulled flat bed as well as refer and covered wagon. He also owned his own trucking business since 1996 which is currently known as Coon Creek Transport. David's work has been limited since his illness in October of 2006. Although he was ill, David never once gave up hope and his spirit remains an encouragement to this day.

David had a great love of the outdoors. In the winter, he enjoyed riding snowmobile as well as fixing them. He also found enjoyment in metal work; fixing, creating, and making something from nothing, as well as summertime hobbies of gardening, fishing, tinkering on tractors and repairing/polishing his trucks. David was a member of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association for the past few years. Most of all, he appreciated the time he spent with his wife and family, including his treasured grandkids. David also had a great love of animals, including his most recent dog "Sly".

David is survived by his wife, Debbie of Twin Valley, MN; daughter Kimberly (Bob, III) Lundquist of Park River, ND; son Shawn (Corinne) of Fargo, ND; parents, Wilbert and Erma Mayer of Jamestown, ND, sister Evelyn (Dennis) Hofmann of Grace City, ND, sister Kathy (Wayne) Mittleider of Tappen, ND; two grandchildren, Christian and Courtney and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 27th at 11:00 AM at in Walworth Baptist Church, rural Ulen, Minnesota. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 26th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM in the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Forsberg with Danita Moore serving as pianist. Pallbearers will be Patrick Mittleider, Lonnie Hofmann, Brice Barnick, Michael Dockter, Jonathan Dockter, Andrew Mittleider and Brandon Stroh.

Burial will be in the Walworth Baptist Cemetery, rural Ulen, Minnesota.
