David "Bear" Johnson, 60, Felton, MN died Saturday, March 21, 2009 in Innovis Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota.
David Roy Johnson was born September 18, 1948 in Ada, Minnesota the son of Roy and Verna (Stephenson) Johnson. He grew up in Twin Valley, Minnesota and attended school there. While in school "Bear" was always active in sports. As a child he was baptized and later confirmed in his faith in the Zion Lutheran Church. As a young man he was employed with Abbot, Arnie and Schwindt Construction throughout this area. On January 18, 1975 he was united in marriage to Pam Christianson in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. They made their home in Dilworth, Minnesota for two years. David worked for FM Asphalt for a few years before starting a career with Border States Paving. He was also employed by West Central Ag and Big Dogg Ag of Felton.

Bear was active in his church, Gloria Dei Lutheran in Felton where he was a council member, Decon and was always helpful with the church dinners. He was also active in the Community Club, treasurer of the snowmobile club, and was a former mayor of Felton. He loved sports and had been on the area softball teams for years. Bear enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, darts and riding his Harley. He was a very talented singer whether at church, weddings, funerals, or his favorite singing karoke. The greatest love Bear had was for his family, whether that was for his wife, Pam, his children or his grandchildren and the spending of time together. One of the ways he was going to show that was the trip to Orlando, which they had planned to be on now.

David is survived by his wife, Pam, Felton; two daughters Christina (Lonnie) Emerson, West Fargo, ND, Candice (Chris) Blaze, Dilworth, MN; one sister Peggy (Virgil) Syverson, Tower, MN; one brother James, Tower, MN, and five grandchildren . He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Davey "Cub", and a sister, Susan Jurina.

Memorial Services was held Wednesday, March 25th at 11:00 am in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Felton, MN. A time of remembrance was held on Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a family service beginning at 7:00 pm all in the church. Pastor Karla Mickelson officiated. Carol Lockhart was the organist and Matt Olson was the vocalist. The urnbearer was his grandson, Nick Gordon. Inurnment was in the Felton Cemetery.
