David A. Fuglseth, 82, Fertile, MN, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the Fargo VA Hospital in Fargo, ND.

David was born on November 22, 1941 to Donald Sr. and Mary (Muhonen) Fuglseth in Fertile. He was the oldest of nine children. He attended  school in Fertile, MN.

David joined the United States Army and served his country proudly from 1964 to 1970.

On November 25, 1967, David married Marlene Halstensgard. Marlene passed away in 2016.

David's younger and teen years included a lot of farm work as he grew up. In early adulthood he had numerous jobs operating heavy equipment in and out of state for construction projects, along with working with Polk County operating road graders. He worked as the supervisor for the City of Fertile Maintenance Department for many years. He was then employed by Tilden Farms, operating heavy equipment, followed by working at the New Flyer bus factory in Crookston, MN, until his retirement.

He had many interests and hobbies throughout life and enjoyed spending a lot of time fishing, hunting, camping, taxidermy, going to flea markets and doing wood and metal craft work. He would try to create or build almost any item that was of interest and that he set his mind on. He would always say, "How do you know if you can or can't make something if you don't try?" He performed many home construction projects including building the beauty shop Marlene operated, building an extra bedroom on his home, a garage, and a 3-season porch. He didn't shy away from tackling any projects at home or work.

David is survived by his children and grandchildren, Barry Fuglseth of Mesa, AZ, and his son, David, Shawn and Laurene Fuglseth of Moorhead, MN, and their sons, Jesse (Krista) Gullingsrud, Seth Gullingsrud, and daughter, Faith Fuglseth, Jamy and Tammy Fuglseth of Fertile, MN, and their daughters, Kaitlyn (Trey) Wiebusch, Megan and Abby Fuglseth, Rochelle and Eric Robb of Fertile, MN, and her sons, Isaiah (Savannah) Bauer and Dominic Bauer; great grandchildren, Leif, Logan, Lincoln, Luke, and Lorelai Gullingsrud, and another great grandchild due in November; siblings, Judy Vigoren, Linda (Floyd) Johnson, Carole Anderson, and Jr. (Lindy) Fuglseth; brother-in-law, Brad Erickson; and sister-in-law, Rosie Fuglseth.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; parents, Donald Sr. and Mary; grandson, Alex Bauer; brother, Owen Fuglseth; sister, Peggy Erickson; and infant twin siblings.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Monday, June 3, 2024, at Hope Evangelical Free Church, Fertile, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the funeral on Monday at the church.

Interment with full military rites: Concordia Lutheran South Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
