David Dahl, 84, of Borup, MN died Thursday, March 21, 2013 in Sanford Health System, Fargo, ND.
David Rolland Dahl was born May 23, 1928 the son of Anton and Ella (Rage) Dahl in Ada, MN. As a youngster, he attended Golden Rod Country School, a mile south of his home, for eight years. On September 30, 1951, David was united in marriage to Doris Barnes at the Felton Lutheran Church. The couple made their home across the road from the family farm east of Borup, where they made their living as dairy farmers.
Over the years, David was a deacon and Sunday school superintendent of his church, as well as being secretary and a board member of the White Earth Indian Mission. David also was a member Rockwell Township board for many years. David, Doris, and their daughter, Lois, presented a gospel program once a month for the residents at the Halstad Living Center for six years. They also performed at various churches including the whole family singing and playing instruments for several years. David was a man of integrity and loved his home and family dearly, but first and foremost, he loved Jesus Christ.
David is survived by his wife of 62 years and eight months, Doris Dahl; children: Dawn (Tom) Byers of Grand Forks, ND, Dean (Janet) Dahl of Breckenridge, MN, Joe (Mary) Dahl of Thief River, MN, Michele Stroot of Climax, MN, Pamela (Scott) Revier of Rochester, MN, Melody (Peter) Aasness of Fergus Falls, MN, David (Brenda) Dahl of Ada, MN, and Lois (Lance) Graff of Comstock, ND; 25 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; brothers: Allen (Naomi) Dahl of Borup, Jerry (Jewel) of Felton, and Leland Dahl of Fargo, ND; sisters, Luverne (Kenneth) Hviding of Crookston, MN and Elaine (Paul) Gustafson of Rochester, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a six year old sister, Dorothy Mae Carol and an infant great-grandson, Christian Reece.
Funeral Services were held Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.in Maranatha Free Lutheran Church, Glyndon, MN. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Officiating was Pastor Curt Frankhauser with Anne Manerud serving as organist and Rhonda Rassmuson as trumpeter.
Interment was in Jevnaker Lutheran Cemetery, rural Borup at a later date.
