David R. Anderson Sr., age 69, of Lakeville, MN, died Monday, June 30, 2014, at Augustana Health Care Center in Apple Valley, MN.
David Ray Anderson was born November 5, 1944, in Carroll, IA, the son of Roger and Dorothy (Rippke) Anderson. Growing up, David's family traveled various places around the United States for his father's job as an iron worker. They also lived in Correctionville, IA, for a few years where they owned and operated a family restaurant. David's family eventually settled in northwestern Minnesota and David graduated from high school at the Crookston Agricultural College. Following high school, he attended Bemidji State University and worked as an iron worker. David then purchased a farm next to his parents near Union Lake in the Erskine, MN, area. Upon retiring from farming, he moved to Lakeville, MN, attending Brown College and graduating as a Computer Programmer. David finished his working years as a product engineer in the advanced technology solutions division of the AGCO Corporation. His retirement years were busy building a race car, riding his motorcycle, traveling to Mesa, AZ, in the winter to be with his siblings and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, reading, and playing cards especially Texas Hold 'em. Over the years, David was a member of the Ironworkers Union, Masons and the Union Lake Church. At the age of 69, David went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 30, 2014.
David is survived a daughter, Amber Anderson of Fargo, ND; two sons: David (Mary) Anderson Jr. of Farmington and Dale (Jolie) Anderson of Lakeville, MN; a son he held guardianship for, Michael Gnadt of Crookston, MN; six grandchildren: Cody, Ryley, Avery, Max, Kaylee and Abby; three sisters: Judy (John) Peters and Holly (Clinton) Balstad both of Billings, MT, and Diane (Robert) Albers of Fergus Falls, MN; two brothers: William (Sue) Anderson of Billings, MT and Gary (Beth) Anderson of Red Wing, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services were held Monday, July 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Union Lake Lutheran Church, rural Winger, MN.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the funeral.
Inurnment took place at Dovre Free Lutheran Cemetery, Winger.
