Darlene Dolores Rund, 89, Ada, MN, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Benedictine Care Community in Ada.

Darlene, daughter of Helmuth and Bertha Schlenker was born on September 17, 1931. She was born and raised in Goodrich, ND, graduated from Goodrich High School, and later attended Interstate Business College in Fargo.

Darlene married PJ Rund on August 24, 1952 and worked in New Rockford, ND during PJ's service in the United States Air Force, living a short time in Florida upon his return from France.

After military service they returned to North Dakota, residing in Sharon where they lived for 20 years. While raising a family and building a loving household, Darlene was active in community organizations and activities. She later worked in the Sharon School cafeteria and served for several years as secretary of Trinity Lutheran Church. Always busy, Darlene had a broad set of interests and sought perfection in all: sewing, baking, knitting, cross stitch, quilting, collecting commemorative plates, spoons, and Christmas ornaments.

Her busy life and work continued in Ada, MN where the family moved in 1976. Darlene continued volunteer work in the community while also working several years in the business office at the Ada Hospital.

Darlene was the standard bearer of her family, setting expectations of service to others and modeling the same. A person of strong faith and deep conviction, Darlene was a proud choir member of The Inspirations with whom she performed for 25 years at local churches in the area.

Darlene loved spending time with her friends and family both near and far where she nurtured caring relationships over a lifetime. She was a strong, determined person, a loving mother, wife, daughter, and friend who never liked goodbyes, a trait she sustained to the end.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, PJ of Ada; daughter, Pamela (Dale) Riederer of Jamestown, ND; sons, James (Barbara) of Tempe, AZ and David of Pelican Rapids, MN; 4 granddaughters; 3 grandsons; two great granddaughters; and one great grandson.

A private family service was held on September 27, 2021 at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home in Ada. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN or a charity of choice.
