Obituary

Darlene Boles, age 76, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Sunday, February 14th, 2010, in her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River.

Darlene J. Bentley was born March 1st, 1933, the daughter of Selmer and Anne (Bulau) Bentley in Twin Valley, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended country school. On November 20, 1950, Darlene was united in marriage to Robert Boles in Webster, South Dakota. The couple made their first home in Twin Valley until Bob entered the United States Air Force. While being stationed in different parts of the United States with her husband, Darlene worked as a waitress at various restaurants. After serving in the military for over 25 years, Bob retired and they returned to make their home in Twin Valley. Darlene and Bob enjoyed many winters in Arizona over the years. In 1982, Darlene injured her back and Bob became her primary caregiver. Bob died January 18, 2009, and Darlene continued to make her home here since that time.

Darlene's favorite past times included listening to books on tape, or "talking books", as she called them. She was active in the Lutheran faith and loved dogs. Darlene enjoyed riding around in her motorized wheelchair and her kids and grandkids liked to race with her. Of the things she treasured most in life, however, was the time she spent with her family, kids and grandkids.
