Obituary

Darlene Anderson, 70, of Hitterdal, MN died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital, Minneapolis, MN.

Darlene Mae Anderson was born July, 1942 in Riverton, Iowa the daughter of William and Grace (Richie) McAlister. She grew up and attended school there until her family moved to Underwood, Minnesota. In 1956 they moved to the Glyndon, Minnesota area where Darlene attended High School. On December 18, 1960 she was united in marriage to James Anderson at Walworth Baptist Church, rural Ulen, Minnesota. They made their home in Moorhead and later in Felton before moving to east of Hitterdal. After several years they moved to Ulen and later to Thief River Falls, Minnesota where they lived until 1974. At that time they returned to the Hitterdal community where they have since made their home since. Over the years Darlene was employed at Pamida in Thief River Falls and Archie's in Moorhead. She was employed at the Sunny Side Nursing Home in the dietetics department and later as a nurse's aide for over 25 years. She retired in 2006. Darlene also sold Watkins for several years where she met a lot of new friends.

Darlene always had time to visit with her friends and enjoyed doing crafts, baking and fishing. She also loved to travel and camp with her family. One of her greatest joys came from spending time with her grandchildren. Darlene was an active member to the Walworth Baptist Church where she was President of the Ladies Aid for many years.

Darlene is survived by her husband Jim, Hitterdal, MN, a daughter, Sharon Wisk, Hitterdal, MN; two sons ,Keith (Angie) Ulen, MN and Mike (Laurie) Hitterdal, MN; one brother, Gene (Norma) Danville, Iowa; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Walworth Baptist Church, rural Ulen. Visitation was Monday from 5-7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:00 at the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley. Visitation was also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Pastor Mike Forsberg officiated with Shelby Moore and Rick Safar providing music. The pallbearers were all of her grandchildren, James Bratholt, Jeff Dunblazier, Tony Wisk, Bradley Anderson, Shawn Anderson, Thomas Anderson, Dwight Bratholt and Alyssa Anderson. Her Honorary pallbearers were two great grandchildren, Grant and Hunter Anderson. Burial was in the Walworth Baptist Cemetery, rural Ulen, MN.
