Darleen "Doodie" Andring, age 91, of Gary, MN, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home.
Darleen Andring, lovingly known as Doodie, was born on September 11, 1934, to Norbert and Lillie (Schulstad) Dobmeyer, at the Schermerhorn Ranch in rural Mahnomen, MN. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. Petri Church near Gary, MN. Doodie attended school in Mahnomen and graduated with the Class of 1952. On July 7, 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Andring. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and farming. In 1956, they moved to their farm west of Mahnomen, where they raised their five children; Daniel, Arnold, Vincent, Angela, and Laura, and later their grandson, Douglas. A devoted farm wife, Doodie worked side by side with Dick throughout the years. Whether driving tractor, milking cows, helping with harvest, or lending a hand on neighboring farms during potato season, she was known for her strong work ethic and willingness to help wherever she was needed. In her retirement years, Doodie became a familiar face at the Red Apple Café, where she enjoyed working at the cash register and visiting with customers. She also generously volunteered at various events at St. Michael's Church, where she and Dick were active members. She was proud to be a member of the Catholic Daughters and valued the friendships and fellowship that came with her faith community.
Doodie loved visiting with family and friends, sharing stories, and staying connected with those around her. Above all, she cherished her family and found her greatest joy in the people she loved. She will be remembered for her hardworking spirit, kind heart, unwavering faith, and the warmth she shared with everyone she met.
Darlene is survived by three sons: Daniel (Elizabeth) of Oswego, NY, Arnold (Barbara) of Crookston, MN, and Vincent of Gary; one daughter, Angela Faria of Elk Grove, CA; 11 grandchildren, including a special grandson, Douglas (Amy) of West Fargo, ND; and six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Tim (Brenda) Dobmeyer of Twin Valley, MN; along with several nieces and nephews and many Andring relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; one daughter, Laura Andring; a daughter-in-law, Gayle Andring; two grandsons, Dennis Faria and Joshua Thiem; her brother, John "Butch" and an infant brother.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Mahnomen.
