Darla Joy Kier, age 59, of Waubun, MN, left for the spirit world on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Sanford Health Systems in Fargo, ND.

Darla Joy Kier was born on April 9, 1958 to Wilfred and Julia (Wadena) Kier. Growing up in Naytahwaush, Darla attended school and graduated from Waubun School. She attended college for a while after high school. Darla was blessed with three children, Jacob, Jaci, and Cady. She worked for Circle of Life School and various positions with the White Earth Nation. Due to her health, Darla had recently retired from the White Earth Fleet Department where she had been employed since 2010.

In her spare time, Darla enjoyed ricing, racing, and blues music. She took pleasure in going to the casino where she could be found playing slots. Darla also loved to travel with her sisters taking in a road trip whenever she was able. She was very proud of her Native American culture. She enjoyed taking part in pow wows where she was especially honored to partake in traditional dancing ceremonies. Her grandchildren were the twinkle of her eyes, and she loved spending time with them.

Darla is survived by her son, Jacob McArthur (Samantha Brunner), Waubun; her daughters Jaci McArthur (Justin Plante) and Cady Bellanger (Andrew Lundon) both of Mahnomen; her grandchildren: Jaiden and Jase McArthur-Plante, Adrian Lundon, and Jacob McArthur; four sisters, Judy Rawley, Diane Kier, Carrie Kier, and Patty (Jeff) Straub; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Julia; her grandson, Andrew Lundon Jr.; her sister, Elaine Kier; and her brothers, Wilfred Kier Jr., Dicky Mannypenny, Danny Kier, Charles Wadena, Daniel Kier, Marvin Kier, LeRoy Kier, and Willy Kier.
