Daniel Stock, age 59, of Mahnomen, MN, died Sunday, February 12, 2017, as a result of a snowmobile accident.
Daniel John Stock was born September 18, 1957, in Chicago, IL, to John "Jack" and Doris (Stash) Stock. When Danny was an infant, the family moved to Fergus Falls, MN, and then to Mahnomen in 1958. He grew up on the family farm near Mahnomen and graduated with the
class of 1976. On November 12, 1977, Daniel was united in marriage to the love of his life, Paula LaFriniere, at Nee-Gon-Nee Lutheran Church. They would make their home northeast of Mahnomen where they would raise four children. Farming has always been a way of life for
Danny, and he shared his love and respect for the land with his brothers, children and grandchildren. He farmed with his brothers until the time of his death and frequently helped his
sons with their farming activities as well
Though Danny was a man of few words, he was happiest in the company of family and friends; he and Paula hosted many family get-togethers both at home and at the lake where countless memories were made and good meals were enjoyed. He delighted in the time they shared with
loved ones at their cabin on Big Elbow Lake, and he could always be counted on to give rides to the grandchildren on the pontoon or jet-ski. In addition, he looked forward to the yearly tropical getaway he and Paula would take to escape the cold of the Minnesota winter. Whether it was in Minnesota or Mexico, Danny enjoyed sitting quietly in the sunshine on a beach. To those who knew and loved him, there just didn't seem to be anything he couldn't do: from babysitting his
grandkids to fixing a tractor to tiling a bathroom, he would be there to lend a hand. Danny listened more than he spoke, but when he did speak, he did so with wisdom. He gave the best advice and was a trusted advisor to his brothers, children, and friends. He was not afraid of hard work or trying something new, which led to his success as a farmer and as the head of his family.
Danny had a quiet strength and was kind and level-headed; he took care of those he loved and was looked up to by his siblings, children and grandchildren, whom he treasured .
