Watch Danny's Funeral

Daniel Kenneth Mickelson, age 60, died Thursday, April 15, 2021 at his home in Twin Valley, MN.

Danny, the eldest son of David and Coleen Mickelson, was born in Moorhead, MN on September 24, 1960.  Danny grew up on the family farm outside of Twin Valley, MN and was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church. He attended Twin Valley School graduating in 1979, and after high school he attended Moorhead Technical School. Danny studied agriculture and worked in Moorhead for a few years before returning to Twin Valley where he managed the Twin Valley Insurance Agency until he retired. He continued to do part-time jobs in the area including serving on the City Council for a number of years and mowing lawns.

In his spare time Danny enjoyed snowmobiling, restoring his Gran Torino, and spending time with family and friends. Danny always looked forward to the annual Mickelfest reunion. In addition, Danny enjoyed every aspect of farming. Dan said the most fun he had in his life was hanging on the handlebars of his Arctic Cat riding the trails out east with his buddies.  Dan will be missed and forever remembered by his loving family and friends.

He is survived by his parents, David and Coleen Mickelson; two sisters, Kari (Claude) Oppegard of Glyndon, MN, Connie (Stewart) Purrington of Twin Valley; and one brother, Bryan (Trudy) Mickelson of Twin Valley; seven nieces: Emily (Mike) Bormann of Bismarck, ND, Ashley (Andy) Larson of Ada, MN, Kayla (Nate) Bence of Moorhead, MN, Heidi (fiancé, Greg Haglund) Purrington of Pelican Rapids, MN, Alissa Purrington of Moorhead, MN, and Terryl and Cheyenne Mickelson of Twin Valley; and one nephew, Andrew (Kayla) Oppegard of Rollag, MN; two great nieces, Addison Larson and Lennon Oppegard; and two great nephews, Dayton Mosher and Rowan Bence.

Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Helen Mickelson; Kenneth and Mildred Saker.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley.  Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2021 with a prayer service beginning at 5:00 p.m. all at the church.

Following all Covid-19 safety protocols, social distancing will be practiced, and all must wear a mask to participate. The service will be recorded and available on funeral home website shortly following the service.
