Dale Sirjord, age 45, of Gary, MN, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 as a result of a farming accident.

Dale was born August 5, 1963, in Mahnomen, MN, the son of Mervin and LouAnn (Thompson) Sirjord. He was raised on the farm east of Gary and baptized and confirmed at Ness Lutheran Church. Dale attended school in Gary and graduated with the class of 1981. Following high school, Dale began farming with his father. As a fourth generation farmer, not only was this his occupation, but his way of life. On September 18, 1982, Dale was united in marriage to Terri Moe in Gary, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Gary where they began and raised their family. Dale was also employed for 25 years by Pat's Auto in Gary.

Dale was a member of Gary Lutheran Church, Gary City Council and also a Gary Fireman. Dale will always be remembered for his one liners. He enjoyed snowmobiling, playing darts , but the time he treasured most was the time he spent with his family.

Dale is survived by his wife, Terri, of Gary; a daughter, Natalie Sirjord (Tony Smith), of Thief River Falls, MN; a son, Joshua Sirjord, of Gary; a granddaughter, Mya Smith; his parents, Mervin and LouAnn Sirjord, of Gary, MN; two brothers, Mark (Bonnie) Sirjord, of Bejou, MN, and Matt Sirjord, of Gary, MN; two sisters, Denise (Terry) Halland, of Hawley, MN, and Shawn (Kurt) Halvorson, of Gary, MN; his grandfather, Lester Thompson, of Mahnomen; father and mother-in-law, Johnny and Shirley Moe, of Gary, MN; several nieces, nephews and one great niece. Dale was preceded in death by a brother, Gary; his paternal grandparents and maternal grandmother.

Funeral Services was held Monday, December 15, 2008 at 2 pm at Gary Public School, Gary, MN. Burial was in the Gary Lutheran Cemetery, Gary, MN.
