Curtis Olson, age 72, of Flom, MN, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in his home.
Curtis Leroy Olson, the son of Orrin and Genive (Seykora) Olson, was born in Moorhead, MN, on May 17, 1942. He was raised in the Moorhead area and attended school there. Following his high school graduation, Curtis entered the United States Navy. While serving, he met Carol Wildermuth and they were married in 1963. After his honorable discharge, the couple moved to Long Beach, CA, to make their home. Curtis worked as a driver for Schafer Ambulance then as dispatch with Los Angeles County for over 17 years. During this time he received his commercial license and later began trucking. They moved to Brea, CA, and lived there for several years. Carol passed away in February of 2001, and shortly thereafter, Curtis began spending his summers in Flom. In the mid-2000's he retired from over-the-road trucking and moved to Flom to make his permanent home.
Curtis' true goal in life was to provide for his family. He often worked more than one job to afford his children the better things in life. He enjoyed coaching their football team, taking them to amusement parks, watching football and basketball games, and making wonderful childhood memories with them. In his younger years, Curtis liked to bowl and since his retirement, became an avid fisherman. Although a private man, Curtis was proud to be a father and cherished his family.
He is survived by one son, Michael (Chris) Olson of Walnut, CA; two daughters, Dawna Olson of Los Angeles, CA and Lynda (Shawn) Daskan of Riverside, CA; one brother, Ardell (Joan) Olson of Spokane, WA; and four grandchildren: Joshua, Curtis, Anece, and Sierra. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Funeral Services were held at 3:00pm on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley, led by Pastor Al Brooks. Interment was in the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA at a later date.
