Corrine E. Griewe, age 79, of Twin Valley, MN, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Twin Valley Living Center in Twin Valley.

Corrine Eleanor Hanson was born on December 6, 1930 in Gary, MN, the daughter of Henry O. and Ester R. (Masche) Hanson. She grew up on the family farm near Gary and attended country school. As a young woman, Corrine attended Gary High School and confirmed her Lutheran Faith at Gary Lutheran Church. On August 6, 1949 Corrine was united in marriage to Herbert Griewe at St. John's Lutheran Church near Ada, MN. The couple lived on a farm east of Ada for one year before purchasing a farm near Gary. Together, Corrine and Herb operated the farm for nearly 40 years. Corrine was an active farmwife, helping with dairy cattle and fieldwork all while raising her children. Herb past away in 2009 and Corrine continued to make her home at the Living Center, where she has resided since 2007.

Corrine was a strong Norwegian, which meant she loved to socialize. Her coffee pot was always on for friends and neighbors who stopped by to chat. She enjoyed cooking the daily meals for her family and had a special knack for making fancy deserts on the holidays. Corrine cherished each of her grandchildren and loved watching them grow into adulthood. She especially treasured her newest little great grandson, Bryce.

Corrine is survived by one son, Bruce (Denise) Griewe of Gary, MN; one daughter, Bonnie (Gene) Werpy of Twin Valley; two brothers, Everett (Laurie) Hanson and Floyd Hanson, both of Gary; one sister, Eveline Anderson of Gary; seven grandchildren: Teresa Werpy, Aaron Werpy, Monica (Jerod) Trenda, Wendy (Jesse) Thymian, Nathan (Rita) Griewe, Jessica Griewe, and Ashley Griewe; and one great grandson, Bryce Griewe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandson, Nicholas Werpy.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Ada, MN, with Pastor Arvid Salvhus officiating. Lori Salvhus will serve as organist with Alden Anderson as vocalist. Serving as pallbearers will be Barry Halland, Kevin Bennefeld, Corey Hanson, Craig Hanson, Roger Lee, Chris Lee, and Mike Nelson. Honorary bearers will be Gertrude Douglas, Ellen Lee, Donna Manning, Connie Bennefeld, Carol Airhart, all of Corrine's grandchildren, and her great grandson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 14, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Twin Valley. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Wednesday.

Interment will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ada.
